About Us

281 (Southport) Squadron Civilian Committee comprises of parents and friends of the Squadron.

Our role is to ensure the Squadron maintains direction, assisting the Commanding Officer and raising funds.

Fund Raising
Fund raising is vital as although the Squadron is allocated a small sum towards its administrative costs all other expenses must be paid for from non-public funds and, therefore, have to be met by the Squadron itself. Other than flying, gliding, shooting and some sport all other activities are supported through fund raising E.g. Running of the Squadron mini-bus, computer equipment, sports kit; social events like Laser Quest, BBQ etc...

Share 'Your' Skills
In addition to the committee meetings there are many other areas where support is much needed:
• advice to young people on careers in your area of knowledge
• helping obtain equipment
• providing 'your' skills i.e. cooking, vehicle and building maintenance, administrative skills, computer support
• operation of the weekly tuck shop

Other Benefits
Parents and friends of the Civilian Committee often build their own friendships and social activities through the meetings or just by helping out when time permits, such as the Southport Airshow, Woodvale rally, barbecues, sponsored walks or other sport events.

No Commitments
The Committee usually meets once per quarter, under the direction of a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
We will be very pleased to accept offers of any help - even if you can not commit to regular or long term assistance.

If you would like to know more please try and catch one of us this evening, or email/telephone the Squadron with your preferred contact details.

Thank you.
